Certifications to Consider for Making the Job Hunt Easier

January 22, 2020 by Guest Contributor

There’s no question that getting a high-quality job isn’t easy. However, there are many ways you can make yourself more marketable to various companies. One example is by becoming 1 of the 4 Americans who are certified in some field.

There are a variety of different types of certifications that can ultimately help you get hired. Here are four such examples.

Human Resources Certifications

Of the various certifications listed here, this is the most industry-specific. Human Resource Certifications, such as Professional or Senior Professional, are basically requirements to work in the Human Resources field. In that sense, they won’t just help you get a job in this area: They are essential if Human Resources is your field of choice.

Google Certifications

A Google certification can be very helpful when it comes to getting you high-quality tech jobs. There are many different types of Google Certifications that you can get, including certification in AdWords, Google Analytics, Publisher and more.

The best thing about such a certification is that there are countless industries and fields which a Google Certification can be useful in. The Path to Success: From Intern to Employee

September 7, 2013 by Guest Contributor

The job market has never been more competitive than it is now. So candidates today have to go above and beyond to stand out against other applicants. Obviously, the work experience of each candidate is important but how you present yourself is equally important. Once you have the basic educational qualifications required, employers are in a position where they can be more selective due to the low number of available jobs and the high number of applications for each role that becomes available.

Convert your internship into full time employmentTraining and development are two areas that employers look for and nothing can fulfill this more than an internship. Internships are common for people to undertake either during or shortly after periods of education so they are able to gain the necessary skills when a full-time job simply isn’t available. For those interns that impress the management of a company, they have a unique opportunity to become a full-time member of staff and learn their trade from the ground up.  Here are some tips to help you convert that internship into employment. Leadership Styles in Management

November 30, 2012 by Melanie Bayon

Effective Leadership Styles

One of the most important tools for corporate managers is leadership. Corporate managers generally arrive in their successful positions through hard work, diligence, and the proper training and education. Often coming from executive MBA programs and other top schools, corporate managers will have worked their way up as specialists in their fields into broader roles that let them lead teams and large groups of people to ensure company success. Because team management can be stressful and project development often comes under a tight deadline, it is necessary that corporate managers have the leadership skills to ensure everyone they supervise fulfills their respective roles to the best of their abilities. A good understanding of leadership and leadership qualities is essential for the corporate manager. leadership styles in management

No Leadership Formula

There is no magic formula for successful leadership, just as there are no unique set of traits that leaders share that make them effective. Qualities like integrity and empathy, assertiveness and likability, good time management and good decision making skills are all qualities that good leaders can possess, either alone or in combination with one another. But an effective leader does not have to be well liked to motivate people, and a good leader can make good decisions without a strong sense of empathy. Thus, it is necessary to look more closely at the actions of leaders and the styles that leaders can adopt.

3 Different Leadership Styles

There are essentially three different leadership styles in management. Each has its place and is closely tied to [Read more…] about Leadership Styles in Management

Volunteering: A Great Work for Job Seekers

September 10, 2012 by David L

Volunteering is an important task that has been carried out by a volunteer. There are many people who spend their free time volunteering in different organizations. Volunteering is an excellent way to meet new people and also gives you the opportunity to improve your social skills. Volunteering services are those services that are chosen by individuals to share their time and knowledge without receiving any payments. Giving cost-free services to an organization will surely benefit you as well. Volunteering also gives hope to those who have lost all hope in life. Volunteering jobs must be considered as important as any paid job.

The Benefits of Volunteering

Volunteering is important for numerous reasons that benefit both community and the volunteer. It brings fun and refreshment to your life and also advances your career. Many people think that volunteering is just a waste of time but the truth is that volunteering gives lots of benefits. Time is one of the essential factors of an individual’s life; one must give respect to the importance of time. Volunteering is the best way to make proper use of time. Doing volunteer work not only gives you the opportunity to serve your community, but it also builds your skills.

It is a great way to get out of the house and meet new people and to improve your communication skills, knowledge, enthusiasm, ability, etc. Volunteering might cover varied and different activities from visiting elderly or sick neighbors, getting involved in youth clubs, helping others when they are in trouble, etc.

Volunteers do not earn money but they earn the respect of others. It also helps to reduce depression. There are many volunteering programs that might take place in your area, so you must go there and volunteer. If you are looking for a job, volunteering experience can be very beneficial for your resume. It not only improves your skills, abilities, and talent,s but also can result in a full-time job for job seekers. There are many cases where contacts you meet while volunteering will be able to assess your skills in a non-threatening environment and may then refer you to an appropriate position. Be sure to spread the word that you are looking for a job among fellow volunteers and perhaps someone will know of the perfect position for you. Of course, it helps if the position you are volunteering for is somehow related to the job you are looking for, but it isn’t absolutely necessary. Just letting people know that you are hard-working and generous with your time may be enough to get your foot in the door.

How to Get a Career Instead of Just a Job

The Key to Success in Jobs

I once met a young man who was complaining about change and this is what I told him.

” The only thing Constant in Life is change.
Those who adapt quickest thrive…
Those who adapt slowly survive…
Those who don’t atapt at all…
are relegated to the lowest levels of existence…
Poverty and misery.
The key to success is to adapt quickly…
it will put you at the head of the pack.”

In this article we will look at how change affects your job prospects and what you can do about it.

How to Get a Career Instead of Just a Job

Ever since 2008, government officials have been scrambling to put the economy back together, and it’s hard for someone without work to find a place for themselves within the chaos. The world has changed; products that were once the hallmark of American civilization are no longer in demand, and if they are, they’re shipped from another country. We’ve become a mostly service-based economy with millions of people that need jobs and few openings for them to fill.

Despite this, it’s a time of unparalleled opportunity. New niches are being created, new technologies are being introduced, and it’s never been easier to educate yourself, whether it’s through school or self-study, or starting your own business. Unskilled labor is disappearing, but anyone that can adapt has a bright future ahead of them.

Expanded Horizons: Doing Business Internationally

June 2, 2012 by Guest Contributor

Doing Business Internationally

Whether you are a recent college graduate casting furtively about for work, or you’ve been in the workforce for a few years and haven’t much to show for it, or you’re a business owner struggling to gain a competitive edge in your industry… you may be wondering what you have to do to get ahead in this economy. If you are considering traveling to a fast-growing international market to pursue a career or business opportunity, you’ll want to keep a few things in mind.

International Business- Market Growth

Whether you own a business or you are just looking to advance your career, you can take advantage of long-running macroeconomic trends by moving your business abroad. Whereas the American economy is forecast to grow between 2 and 3 percent annually over the next few years, foreign business in places like China and Brazil are enjoying regular growth rates approaching 10 percent annually. As a worker, this guarantees you both job security and upward wage pressure. As a business owner, this ensures that the markets for your products and services grow at healthy rates. In either case, you’re likely to be better off a few years down the road by doing business internationally.

Preparing For a Global Economy

These days, analysts in the know repeat mantras about “globalization” and “leveling the playing field.” But… What do they mean?

Simply put, the trend towards economic parity between developed nations like the United States and still-developing countries like China means that national borders are becoming less important every day. To prepare for doing business internationally and take advantage of this new economic reality, expand your horizons by:

Online Continuing Education Courses

Today’s job market is incredibly competitive, with the number of applicants for each job far outstripping the number of available openings. While many careers may initially value experience over qualifications, enrolling in continuing education degrees or courses is a great way for employers to know you are up to date with the latest developments, technology and strategies in their industry.

Continuing Education Provides Ammo for Interviews

Online Continuing Education CoursesBy keeping you on the cusp of new developments, continuing education courses ready you for new challenges your industry may be facing such as changes in technology or market forces. Social Media Marketing Consultants Needed

May 18, 2012 by Tim McMahon

By Tim McMahon, editor

Social Media Marketing Consultants

Social Media Marketing is a new field and just as happened in other new fields like web designers 15 years ago, companies are scrambling to find qualified people to perform this valuable service for them. This is truly an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a budding industry and make a name for yourself and carve out a lucrative career before others catch on.

What is Social Media Marketing?

Social media marketing is a relatively new method of promoting businesses via social media platforms and finding customers and ensuring customer satisfaction after you’ve found them. Companies are increasingly realizing how important happy customers are and that it is much more profitable to retain existing customers than to constantly look for new ones. Today, social media is not just used for finding long-lost colleagues or old High School friends on Facebook; or Tweeting about what you had for lunch on Twitter. Social media has turned out to be an important tool for businesses that want to create a successful online presence. As more and more people are using social media to search for the products they like, social media marketing has become a regular part of daily business transactions and businesses have discovered social media as a method to reach their target consumers and establish a pleasant brand experience online.

Social Media Marketing ConsultantsAs a result, smart companies are shifting a part of their marketing dollars to social media. Large companies like Proctor & Gamble, Taco Bell, and Pepsi are budgeting huge amounts of money to manage brand perception and promote their products via social media. And in the process, they are creating the demand for thousands of Social Media Managers and Marketing Consultants.

So what do Social Media Marketing Consultants do?

Tap Into the Conversation

If an organization wants to find out the “chatter” in the marketplace about a particular product, they need to check the social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook in order to see what prospective customers think about the brand. Social Media Marketing Consultants have their fingers on the pulse of the community. They monitor the chatter and set up alerts related to keywords pertaining to the brand they are monitoring. By tapping into this network and spreading the word Social Media Marketing Consultants can quickly spread the good word or defuse bad chatter from dissatisfied customers.

Spread the News

Social Media Marketing Consultants will often spread interactive online content, in relation to the commodity that’s being launched. For example if Pepsi wants to launch a new soft-drink it might create a game or a contest related to the new product to create a buzz around it with the hopes of it going viral and creating positive word-of-mouth from influencers.

Perform Online Customer Service

If an online linked in Social Media person discovers a dissatisfied customer he or she will quickly step in to diffuse the situation and turn that dissatisfaction into an amazing customer experience. Smart companies are empowering their Social Media consultants to handle customer service issues quickly before they become media nightmares.

Tips for Landing a Job with No Experience

April 23, 2012 by Tim McMahon

How Can You Get a Job With No Experience?

Landing a job in today’s economy certainly is a challenge. There are so many highly qualified and experienced candidates out there that it can be nearly impossible for a recent college graduate or an individual with no job experience to break into the profession they desire.

Recently, job hunters have been bombarded with statistics and statements about the dismal state of the job economy—unemployment was recently at an all-time high, jobs are still scarce, and with graduates willing to accept lower level jobs, college degrees are losing their potency in the professional world.

For any job hunter out there, this can be an exhausting and frightening atmosphere to set foot in. But, this is how landing a job works. You have to put your foot forward and your head on the line. Oftentimes, job hopefuls find themselves in a bit of a conundrum. Employers are looking for candidates with experience, but candidates can’t get that experience until they land the job. While this is no doubt a challenge, there are many ways to display the expertise and skillset required for a job without having the specific job experience. Try these three techniques to help land a job without any relevant experience. [Read more…] about Tips for Landing a Job with No Experience

10 Awesome Jobs You Can Do From Home

October 25, 2011 by Guest Contributor

Work From Home Jobs

One of the biggest changes taking place in the modern workforce is the number of people who now telecommute doing their job from home. We are fast reaching the stage where it is not necessary to travel to work and back each day just to sit at an office work station glued to a computer. Many organizations are realizing the benefits of not having to maintain expensive office space when the same work can be carried out online from anywhere in the country (or even the world). One of the benefits that could ultimately result from these changing work patterns is that worker stress levels drop and they become more efficient.

Although there are many employers who still hold onto the belief that you must have your workforce within sight to keep their work levels high, many are changing their attitudes as it is being proven that a worker’s productivity actually increases when they work from home and are able to take advantage of more flexible hours and with no traveling to worry about.

Working from home does not necessarily mean a person running their own online business anymore, as more and more company employees find much of their work can be done outside the office. Some of the jobs that can be done at home just as well as in an office environment include the following: [Read more…] about 10 Awesome Jobs You Can Do From Home
