How to Get Recruiters on Linkedin (And Land That Dream Job!)

January 29, 2020 by Tim McMahon

Did you know that 122 million people got a job interview through LinkedIn? And job applicants with a ‘comprehensive’ LinkedIn profile are 71% more likely to get interviews.

This is great news for anyone who’s looking for a new job, but the truth is that LinkedIn currently has 260 million monthly active users. So the question is, what can you do to you stand out among so much competition?

1. Complete Your LinkedIn Profile

First things first, it’s important that any recruiter who visits your LinkedIn profile has access to all the information they might need in an initial stage of the recruiting process.

So, make sure your profile is updated with:

  • Your headline. This is one of the first things people see when they go on your profile, so it must be clear and up-to-date.
  • Your job history with details about your skills. This tells recruiters about your experience, helping them understand if you’re a good fit for a certain job opening.
  • Your photograph. An image is worth more than a thousand words, so make sure you look as professional as can be.

2. Optimize Your Profile

Have you ever heard about SEO? What about LinkedIn SEO? In order for a recruiter on LinkedIn to find you, you have to appear in relevant searches.

Your profile might be the most complete one on LinkedIn but if it doesn’t appear on searches, then all your effort goes out the window. So, do some keyword research when filling in your profile and make sure to include relevant keywords.

3. Try to Get Recommendations

While we’re on the topic of SEO, recommendations can also be a great help to boost your LinkedIn profile in search results. Plus, if a recruiter sees that others were happy with your work, they’ll feel even more confident about getting in touch with you.

A few tips to get more recommendations are:

  • Ask for recommendations from people you’ve worked closely with and who you trust.
  • Use the “Ask to Be Recommended” feature.
  • Give recommendations yourself – you might just get some back.

4. Stay Active on the LinkedIn Platform

If a recruiter goes on your profile and sees that you haven’t posted anything in months, they’ll probably assume that you don’t use it anymore and, just like that, you lose an opportunity.

Post links to interesting articles and videos, comment on other people’s posts, write your own articles… in short, stay active!

5. Include Your Profile on Your Resume

Nowadays, we all send our resumes online, so you can make your LinkedIn profile clickable on the document. This will make it quick and easy for recruiters to connect with you on the platform.

You can add this link to your resume and any other job hunt documents: a letter of intent, portfolio, cover letter… you get the drill.

How to Find Recruiters on LinkedIn: It’s All About Perfecting Your Profile

Having a complete, optimized and active profile on LinkedIn is the best way of standing out on the platform, so make sure you use all our tips.
