Careers to Consider if You Have a Variety of Job Skills

December 20, 2019 by Tim McMahon

It can be an asset to be a well-rounded jobseeker. If you’re a job seeker who is fortunate enough to be equipped with a range of talents and skills, then you should take full advantage of them. There are all sorts of careers that can be optimal for people who have a lot going for them in the skills department, after all.

Publicist

Publicists are professionals who work in public relations. They tend to know a lot about marketing, advertising, and spreading the word about companies and their associated services. If you’re an individual who knows how to work well in teams, then you may want to apply for publicist positions. These positions can even be ideal for people who know how to speak in front of large groups. According to Payscale.com Publicists earn an average of $45,961/yr but tend to earn commissions and profit-sharing so their salary is closely tied to their skill level.

Teacher

The United States could use more teachers. The entire planet could, too. Teachers are essentially responsible for the future of the planet. That’s because they have to educate the young minds of tomorrow. If you’re a person who knows how to communicate well, you should think about applying for teaching positions. Teacher jobs can be amazing for people who excel in all sorts of subjects. If you’re good at science, mathematics, and writing, you may soar as a teacher. Teacher’s salaries vary by region and level that they teach. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, “The median annual wage for high school teachers was $60,320 in May 2018… The median annual wage for middle school teachers was $58,600, elementary school teachers, except special education was $58,230, and the median annual wage for kindergarten teachers was $55,470.

Researcher

Researchers tend to be professionals who are organized, methodical, and diligent. If you’re someone who knows how to focus and think about things in a thorough manner, then you may want to think about going after a career in the research field. Working in industrial market research can be a great choice for people who know how to round up and assess data well. If you know how to tackle strategizing, consulting and analytics in general, then the market research sector may be right up your alley. The salary for researchers varies a great deal depending on what you are researching. Market research is very different from scientific research or health research.

Interior Designer

Interior designers are professionals who have strong and vivid imaginations on their sides. They also happen to be professionals who know how to communicate extremely effectively with their clients. If you’re a “people person” who also happens to be equipped with a rock-solid sense for interior design elements, then you should explore career paths that may work out for you. Interior designers are people who are in touch with all of the latest aesthetic trends. The median annual wage for interior designers was $53,370 in May 2018.

If you have many talents under your belt, then you’re in luck. You should consider them all during your job searches. You should make sure all potential employers know about them, too.
