Why Business Perception is Important

June 30, 2018 by Tim McMahon

In business, reputation can make you or break you. But it isn’t just how you conduct business that matters, setting the correct image is also important. Dirty business premises, untidy offices and/or reception room, structural defects and signs of damage can scare off customers. Depending on the type of business, often customers won’t even enter your door if the front isn’t clean and tidy. This is especially true if you are running a food business but pertains to other types of business as well. Recently, even car repair businesses (which generates a lot of dirt and grease) have shown that they can benefit if they are able to maintain a clean neat appearance.

Keeping Your Small Business Taxes Organized

February 8, 2013 by Tim McMahon

Small Business TaxesTax season is coming up, and if you’re a small business owner and haven’t been keeping careful track of your business expenses this year, you could have a lot of work ahead of you. As you gather everything for 2012, you should also take the time to get 2013 on the right track and get yourself organized. A little bit of planning now will go a long way when next January rolls around.

Keep all Business Receipts

As a small business owner, it’s absolutely imperative that you keep every receipt connected to your business expenses. Looking at old bank statements, trying to remember why you spent seventy dollars and eighty-three cents at Home Depot a year ago, and if it was a business expense or not, is frustrating in the extreme. Keeping a file for receipts for all business purchases you make throughout the year will allow you to start 2014 without the anxiety. On top of that, if you can do a once a week categorizing of all of the receipts will help you keep organized, and at the end of the year, will give you a list of total expenses, rather than having to go back through all those receipts. If you want to get really high tech you could try using the NeatReceipts Mobile Scanner and Digital Filing System.

4 Tips for Staying Organized in College

October 21, 2012 by Melanie Bayon

What is the Real Unemployment Rate? One thing about college is guaranteed: When you start, you’re going to be inundated with paperwork, emails, names, phone numbers, and a million other things you’ll never remember. Here’s the good news: You don’t HAVE to remember them, because we’re going to tell you how to stay organized in college.

1.) Keep Hard Copies of Things that Matter

Use a daily planner to keep organizedThis includes (but is not limited to) emails and any work that is submitted online. Technology is great, but it isn’t foolproof. If you email your professor your essay and he notifies you after the due date that he never got it, in addition to forwarding him the email from you “sent” folder, provide him with a hard copy of the email you originally sent.

This is also beneficial to do when you’re dealing with money online. Bank statements, student loan information and receipts, resumés, etc. should all be in your possession in hard copy, in addition to floating around somewhere in your computer.

2.) Organize Important College Paperwork in a File Cabinet

All of that important (and sometimes confidential) paperwork looks fantastic in a messy pile on your computer desk, right? Wrong! It’s also unsafe and could be damaging should you start to lose track of things. Clearly labeled file folders will keep your information secure and organized, just as you need it. This is perfect for receipts, scheduling information, student loan documents, and all of those other hard copies you’re going to start to keep.
