September 25, 2018 by Guest Contributor

One of the biggest challenges that people have after they finish their education is picking a career or job to pursue. While some people know exactly what they want to do by the time they’re done with school, there are others that simply have no idea. For those that do not have an idea of what they want to do, there are several types of jobs to consider getting.

Sales

If you have recently finished school and do not know what type of job to get, one great thing to consider would be to go get a job in sales. Even if you do not know exactly what you want to sell, getting experience as a salesperson is always very beneficial. Ultimately, many of the people that have good careers are going to be in sales or relationship management in some capacity. If you start your career in sales, it could be a great first professional step.

Shipping and Transportation

Another great job to consider when you do not know what you want to do would be to go into the shipping and transportation industry by taking an auto heavy rigid vehicle course. Even though much of the world is changing, there continues to be a very significant need for shipping and transportation. There are a wide variety of different types of jobs that are in this industry. This means that you will be able to find something new that interests you as you build your career.

Build a Trade

Another type of job that you should consider getting would be to get a job in some form of trade. Today, many of the highly sought after individuals are those that have gone through an apprenticeship program and are skilled in certain trades. Whether it is as a welder, mechanic, plumber, electrician, or any other trade, getting a specific skill will always make you very marketable and give you something to fall back on.

Freelance

Finally, a great career option to consider would be to freelance. When you choose to freelance or be a consultant, you can spend a little bit of time each week focusing on different types of jobs. Once you get into this, you may discover that you have a passion for a certain type of job or industry.

Even after you pick your first job, you should continue to evaluate your options. More than likely, you will discover new interests and skills as your career develops. Because of this, you should continue to be open-minded and try to do new things.
